Well… we all arrived alive
after Volcano climbing adventure. Not everyone made
it to the top of the volcano Misti, which is 21,000
feet. Some of us were able to experience something
called “severe altitude sickness.” If you’re really
interested in what it is like, I’ll tell you the
next time we’re together!
We had a GREAT time of fellowship
with the teens and men from our church here in Tacna
as well as our church in Arequipa. Everyone earned
their own way by selling Sarah’s famous “brownie”
recipe! The Peruvians absolutely love them! Maybe
we’ll go into business.
While in Arequipa, Pastor Henry
showed me a property that was for sale. We have
been looking and waiting for 4 years! The property
is one block from their current location and only
has one small room constructed. Please pray that we
can purchase this property! There are not empty
lots where Fundamental Baptist Church is located,
which makes this a tremendous opportunity.
While in Arequipa, Becky and I
decided to leave our van for Pastor Henry to sell.
We will use the sale of the van to help purchase
church property! Please pray that it sells
quickly. It will take a miracle for Fundamental
Baptist to have their own property before their 5
year anniversary in January. Praise the Lord we
serve a God who is the ‘Master of Miracles’. If
you would like to help with this project we would be
honored to receive any designated gift, just send it
to BIMI marked “Arequipa property 1326”.
A few weeks ago, I felt impressed
to give away a few of our benches (though we needed
every single one we had) to church that is really
struggling financially. The very next day the Lord
provided an unexpected special offering through the
Cornerstone Baptist Church. Isn’t it amazing how
God provides! Through their sacrificial giving, we
will be able to finish the boy’s bathroom, build
additional benches and stucco the baptistry! We
are almost finished with the construction of the
church. The only thing we lack to complete the 3rd
floor is to put in doors, windows and roof. We’re
awfully close!
If you like to stucco, we have
LOTS of walls to finish! We would love to host any
work group, youth group or church mission’s trip.
We still have not had one of our supporting church
Pastors visit us on the field! We would love to
show you first hand what God is doing here in
Tacna! It’s exciting!
Have a great Lord’s Day this
week-beginning!
