I’m trying to remember the last time
I sent out an update and… well, maybe your year ended
the same. Busy. We praise the Lord for some great
church activities we had, as well as some very special
family time during the last few weeks.
The first part of December my parents
came to visit with Ruthann. Everyone stayed healthy,
however Ruthann got sick on the trip home. My Dad was a
blessing as he preached and my Mom played piano. She
also played a few of the numbers for our Christmas
Cantata.
Our Christmas Cantata “Ten Thousand
Hallelujahs” and the children’s Cantata, “Long ago in
Bethlehem” were well attended and the hard work paid
off. The Gospel was clearly presented and we had many,
many visitors.
On Christmas Eve we had a dinner at
the church followed by a Bible message. We had a number
of visitors and many responded to the salvation
invitation. We are trying to start different church
“traditions” that would honor God so that there is an
alternative to the worldly pressure here in Peru.
Our Noche de Estreno (Vision Night)
was a special blessing this year. On the 31st
we started at 8 PM and went till Midnight. There was a
shortage of taxis and I didn’t get home from the cleanup
until 1:30 AM! We were all exhausted, but our folks
were super excited with our new theme “By God’s Grace”.
We had a great time watching digital
pictures of 2006 put in video form. We had some great
skits, good preaching, testimonies, FOOD and lots of
good fellowship. I was encouraged by the almost 100 in
attendance.
Last Wednesday we began a new
children and teen’s program called OANSA. It is a
Spanish version of Awana. Becky has a group of 20
leaders that are helping her. Tomorrow we begin our
“Crazy Summer” with VBS followed by our Couple’s Retreat
(Jan 19-20), Evangelistic Campaign (Jan 21-24),
Leadership Camp (Feb 5-9), 2nd VBC (Feb
12-16) and Missions Trip (Feb 28-Mar 2).
On Christmas Eve we had 3 baptisms
and today we had one more. Please pray for spiritual
growth for our church in 2007 as we study the life of
Grace.
Our 3rd floor construction
is slowly coming along. We will finish with the boy’s
bathroom this week and we continue to stucco the brick
walls. We still need to finish the roof ($5,000) as
well as install doors, windows and lights. So, if you
have some old musty money lying around that you aren’t
using, well…
Thank you for your prayers and
sacrificial giving. We are honored to be serving
together with you here in Peru. God is hearing and
answering your prayers for the Peruvian people. What a
blessing to be in His Work!!!
